Overview
This project was completed as part of a capstone collaboration with Schneider, where I led the user experience design and contributed to frontend development for a new version of the FreightPower Owner Operator platform. The goal was to improve how drivers search, evaluate, and book loads by making key information easier to access and decisions faster to make.
Through user research, competitor analysis, and iterative design, we developed solutions that enable drivers to quickly scan load options, compare opportunities, and make more confident, efficient decisions.
Understanding the current experience
User Persona
We analyzed the existing FreightPower experience through user interviews with owner-operators, hands-on platform evaluation, and ongoing discussions with Schneider stakeholders. We complemented this with a competitive analysis of leading load board platforms to understand how similar systems support fast, high-stakes decision-making.
Our goal was to identify where the current experience breaks down for users who rely on speed, clarity, and minimal friction in their workflows.
01 Important information was difficult to scan and prioritize quickly
02 Navigation and filtering lacked clarity and consistency
03 Users faced friction when comparing multiple load options
Key findings
Defining our goals
Prioritize critical load metrics to enable fast, high-confidence decisions
Streamline navigation and filtering to reduce cognitive load
Enable efficient load comparison without disrupting user flow
Establish a clear visual hierarchy to guide attention and improve usability
Design & Development
Key Features
Recommended loads to surface relevant opportunities based on user context and reduce search effort
Comparison feature to enable side-by-side evaluation of multiple loads within a single workflow
Sequential multi-load booking to support planning and streamline back-to-back job selection
Dark mode to improve visibility and usability in low-light, on-the-road environments
Prototyping
We translated these features into high-fidelity prototypes, focusing on how each interaction supports quick, high-confidence decisions. Designs were iterated based on team feedback and stakeholder input to ensure alignment with real-world usage.
